Bad Boy Etiquette 101 EP – Ajebo Hustlers

Featured image shows Piego and Knowledge of Ajebo Hustlers

It can only be the stuff of dreams, Ajebo Hustlers Bad Boy Etiquette 101 EP (Extended Play) is a good project. ‘Dreams’ happens to be the first song off a seven (7) tracks EP. The duo made up of George Dandeson and Isaiah Precious has been around for a while. And their 2021 album, Kpos Lifestyle, Vol 1 gave them a much-needed foundation to build on. Bad Boy Etiquette 101 has received positive reactions and the criticism has been little or nonexistent at all.

Furthermore, Apple Music’s pre-add link to Bad Boy Etiquette 101 was posted on their Twitter page on Nov 21, 2022. It became available on Spotify on Dec 9, 2022.

However, George Dandeson aka Knowledge is the rapper among the two and his use of street slangs and ebonics are nothing short of excellent. Meanwhile, Isaiah Precious, also known as Piego, discharges the duty of crafting and delivering melodious hooks. His singing ability is remarkable. Ajebo Hustlers originate from Port Harcourt and it is a key recipe in their music.

Over the years, several sub-genre has been carved out of Afrobeats; from Afropop to afro-fusion. Ajebo Hustlers have a unique style.

Bad Boy Etiquette 101 EP Reviews & Ratings

Diving into the reviews and ratings of Ajebo Hustlers’ Bad Boy Etiquette 101, we must note this is the opinion of the writer, one he has every right to have. Therefore, it is important to note that reviews and ratings are not influenced by public opinion even if it is helpful at times. Furthermore, the metric for this rating is over 10 (ten), with 10 being the highest number any of the songs from the EP under review can score.

Dreams

Dreams is Bad Boy Etiquette 101 EP opener. We definitely can hear “making bastard money” echoed by Piego’s high-pitched voice on Niphkey’s minimalist beat. Additionally, Knowlegde’s crafty ways of manipulating words were not lacking in his rap, spitting lines like “drunk in success, until I pass out” and how fake sentiments are pushed with the line, “Them go tell you love and light even for blackout.”

It’s the same unique artistic tendencies of wit, unadulterated Nigerianism, and slangs that echo of their Port Harcourt roots and even kaleidoscopic, vibe tendencies that made their debut project, Kpos Lifestyle Vol. 1 one of the best albums of 2021. 7.2/10.

In Love (feat. Fave)

Fave melodious voice imposes some candor in the hook she sang. The classic sentiment of love is a transformative experience in one’s life and how it can alter one’s mannerisms for both good and better. Piego and Knowledge take turns in their respective verses, confessing how strong their lover’s vice has on them. It’s truthful and intimate. It’s different from the normal ordeals artists have often narrated in their songs. 7.8/10.

Knowledge (left) and Piego (right) of Ajebo Hustlers

Kisses

Kisses have the same topical progression, but it deviates into a jaded alley. Piego opens the song, by wailing about how sour his love has become and how it’s now disenchanting and not as magical as before. Knowledge on the other hand is even more bitter, likening his lover’s sexual antics to being as accessible as “general market.” Apparently, the lover in question is quite promiscuous and the duo has all but given up on her vices. Evidently, the beat is incorporated with some beautiful electric-acoustic guitar instrumentation, that serves as a great sonic backdrop to Piego’s vocals. 8.1/10.

No Love (18 Plus)

No Love follows the same template as the duo’s biggest mainstream moment in Loyalty. Upbeat tempo, visceral bass beats, and warm piano keys. They seem to be creating a similar moment here and with the help of Mayorkun, there is some much-needed diversity and dynamism that raises the potential of the song. Similarly, praises have come Mayorkun’s way for his ability to deliver on a collabo. He tends to bring an invaluable synergy to the fore whenever he is on wax with another artiste. 7.8/10.

No Peace (Violence)

If Bad Boy Etiquette 101 was a vehicle certainly ‘No Peace‘ would be the sprocket-wheel as the song reminds listeners of the duo’s tendencies to be a vibe-machine. It’s not the most coherent song, but the swagger at which they deliver said incoherent lyrics and follow them up with more coherent ones—is where the appeal lies. 8.5/10.

Burn My Cable

Finally, as the curtains of Bad Boy Etiquette 101 draw on Burn My Cable, an afro-drill track with highlife-esque guitar synth pads, they glide smoothly like surfers surfing over wide torrents of water. It’s another stereotypical story of a love interest being more hassle than they should be. But the appeal is once again in the dynamism. 8/10.

“See Y’all In March” Says Davido

Davido rocking a black shade and green leather jacket

Is Davido’s new album on the way? After making two public appearances in the wake of his son, Ifeanyi’s death, Davido has gone back to being mute and absent from the music industry. Via a post shared on social media on Dec. 19, Davido shared his plans of going away for more time and making a March 2023 return. David made his first public appearance in November during his uncle, Ademola Adeleke’s inauguration as the Governor of Osun State, Nigeria.

Fans understand Davido needed time off to deal with his loss and not until the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony performance, the afrobeats act has been relatively quiet and absent. His performance at the world cup finale made sure he has only been seen on two occasions since Ifeanyi’s tragic passing.

New Davido Album Coming ?

There’s an air of positivity in his social media posts. And fans and music lovers are guessing he will be returning with an album. Earlier this year he was in the spirit of releasing a new album, set and ready were his words. But following the death of his son, his album and other shows – notably his A.W.A.Y (Are We Africans Yet) concert in Atlanta Georgia were shifted and rescheduled for 2023.

A new Davido album would serve him as he has been greatly missed in the industry. A fun and jolly figure was shaken to sadness and took a well-needed time off the scene. But 2023 promises to turn the situation around and give us the grand character we all know and love.

Davido’s ‘A Better Time‘ album came and went as it didn’t attain the expected success. This is only due to his own standards. In comparison to his peers, Wizkid, and Burna Boy’s projects respectively broke records and boundaries at home and abroad. This time he would be hoping to deliver a new album capable of achieving domestic and international success. Since afrobeats appears to be Africa’s best export in terms of music, a solid album will be perfect.

Second Death Recorded From Crush At Asake London Show

Asake in white jacket

A second woman has died following a crush at an Asake concert at the O2 Brixton Academy on Thursday. The crush at Asake London show has now seen another woman dead.

Gabrielle Hutchinson, 23 years of age, died in the early hours of Monday morning in the hospital. She was a contracted security provider at the Nigerian Afrobeats singer’s show in south London. A rather successful show now has a sour taste in the mouths of Asake and his team.

Gabrielle Hutchinson, 23, the second woman died from the event on Thursday

Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove said it is “devastating news” that a second woman has died following the event. The event attracted around 4,000 people.

“I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to Gabrielle’s family at this inconceivably difficult time,” he said.

Rebecca Ikumelo, 33, of Newham passed away on Saturday morning in the hospital.

Eight people are in the hospital with serious injuries and one woman, 21, remains in critical condition.

Metropolitan Police said Rebecca, Gabrielle, and the 21-year-old fighting for her life were all in the foyer of the Brixton O2 Academy when the crush happened.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are “working hard to establish exactly what happened on Thursday night”, the Met said on Monday.

“The investigation is large and complex. Officers are reviewing CCTV, phone footage, speaking to witnesses, and conducting forensic examinations.”

Police cordons outside the venue are no longer there, but cordons remain in place inside the building while officers continue to examine the scene.

An online page for the submission of photos, videos, and information is set up by the police.

“There were around 4,000 potential witnesses present at the time of this incident and we urge any members of the public with information to come forward,” the Met said.

Police officers were initially called to the long-standing music venue at 9:04 pm on Thursday. Following reports of a large crowd gathered outside. Another call at 9:35 pm reports people attempting to force entry into the venue.

The Met has made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

The crush at the Asake London show is definitely not good news for Afrobeats.

Davido Returns To Social Media With Chioma By His Side Ahead of Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Finale.

Davido and Chioma in Qatar

Afrobeats star, Davido has made a welcome comeback to social media since the unfortunate demise of his son; Ifeanyi. Davido and Chioma in Qatar photos show they are in good spirits.

Meanwhile, the singer, songwriter, and producer who is booked to perform at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony on the 18th of December, surprised his fans with a fresh post on his official social media page. Davido posed with his girlfriend Chioma in a happy and exciting atmosphere. Social media activity has been nonexistent for David Adeleke in the aftermath of his beloved son’s death. Public appearance hasn’t been made too. While fans and well-wishers thirst for him they also understand he’s been dealing with a sad loss.

Below are the photos from the couple:

Although this would be the second time the lovebirds would be seen in public since the incident. First was when they stepped out to support the singer’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, during his inauguration ceremony as Governor of Osun State, Nigeria.

Davido has undoubtedly faced trials with tribulations in his illustrious career. He has always risen up against adversities, and it’s so courageous to see him back in the public domain again.

Davido World Cup Performance for Afrobeats

Just before the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup final kickoff, Davido made history by becoming the first Nigerian to perform at the closing ceremony of this event. An event that had over 4 billion views worldwide no doubt promoted the afrobeats artist and the genre itself. Davido performed “Hayya Hayya” (Better Together) alongside Trinidad Cardona and Aisha.

Messi World Cup Records At Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup

Messi World Cup Records

Lionel Messi and Argentina wins Qatar 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup and the little genius broke records that have stood for many years. Messi in his own right became the first footballer to achieve some remarkable feats. The game was almost won by Messi and Di Maria through their goals in the first half but Mbappé’s 80th and 82nd-minute goals brought the game to parity. The game went on to extra-time in which Messi struck again in the 108th minute but once again Mbappé scored to level the tie.

The penalty shoot-out was the only way a winner would come out of this contest. Mbappé took first for France and scored, and Messi responded for Argentina. Emiliano Martinez has had an outstanding tournament and he is deserving of the Golden Glove – Best Goalkeeper of the tournament award. He didn’t allow Kingsley Koman’s penalty in. Hurelien Tchouameni went wide with his effort, and then came the moment Gonzalo Montiel sent the Argentines at the Lusail Stadium into euphoria.

Argentina And Messi Win Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup

messi with both the world cup and golden ball

Messi and Argentina win Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup in a dramatic fashion. Lionel Messi’s wait for World Cup glory is finally over after Argentina beat France in a dramatic penalty shootout on Sunday.

It was a final for the ages, with momentum swinging both ways throughout a pulsating 120 minutes before Gonzalo Montiel scored the winning penalty after the game had finished 3-3 after extra time.

Messi, playing in his fifth and final World Cup, scored twice but France’s Kylian Mbappé netted a stunning hattrick – the first in a final since 1966 – as both superstars brilliantly slugged it out on the biggest stage of all.

Messi’s penalty and Angel di Maria’s first-half goal looked to have settled the tie in normal time but Mbappé scored two late goals in the 80th and 82nd minute respectively – one from the penalty spot – in as many minutes to draw France level.

However, with both sides feeling the effects of the scintillating finale, Messi looked to have scored a winner in the 108th minute but Mbappé, yet again, replied with an equalizer from the spot, a penalty he won himself after his shot struck Gonzalo Montiel’s arm in the box to take the game to penalties.

France’s Kingsley Coman couldn’t score past Emiliano Martinez, the tournament’s best goalkeeper, and Aurelien Tchouameni pulled his effort wide before Montiel secured Argentina’s third World Cup title and a first since 1986 when the late Diego Maradona inspired them. It is in the same vein Lionel Andréa Messi has come to the fore.

Messi wins FIFA Golden Ball Award

After his stellar display throughout the tournament, Lionel Messi took home FIFA Golden Ball a prize for the best player, an award he won back in the 2014 edition and thus became the only player to win two in World Cup history. Despite winning seven Ballon d’Ors, lifting 38 trophies, and playing over 1,000 career games, the World Cup was the only title missing from Messi’s collection and it’s fitting, perhaps, that the 35-year-old clinched that elusive title in such a memorable game.

Lionel Messi with his second FIFA Golden Ball award as Messi and Argentina win world cup
Messi holds his Golden Ball

He’s now matched his hero Diego Maradona, who guided Argentina to the World Cup 36 years ago and further staked his claim as the game’s greatest player. After all the hype heading into Sunday’s showdown, it was Argentina who started the better of the two teams, aggressively pressing France and forcing the french into costly mistakes.

Messi and Argentina looked sharp from the start, picking up pockets of space and instigating attacks, while Mbappé didn’t see much of the ball during the opening stages.

In the 23rd minute, Di Maria went down in the box after a foul by Ousmane Dembele. The call was a penalty and Messi went on to convert the spot-kick decisively.

Despite the weight of a nation and the eyes of the whole world on him, the great Messi kept his cool and slotted past Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris.

Messi and Argentina send fans into euphoria

There was an outpouring of emotion from the thousands of Argentine fans who outnumbered their French counterparts inside the Lusail Stadium.

The goal saw Messi become the first player to score in the group stage, the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and final of a single World Cup, according to Opta.

After the opener, Argentina only grew stronger with France looking off the pace. The World Cup final is not the match to have a slow start, and France went 2-0 down before the break after Di Maria made good use of a free-flowing team move.

France manager Didier Deschamps wasted no time in changing things, substituting Olivier Giroud and Dembele before half-time, but it initially made little difference as Argentina continued its domination into the second half.

Mbappé and France’s recovery

But just when Messi and Argentina thought they’ve won it, there came a resurgent from the French. Randal Kolo Muani won a penalty, and talisman, Mbappé, who was quiet for much of the match, scored the resulting penalty in the 80th minute and gave France a lifeline.

Sooner momentum swiftly shifted as France, out of nowhere, found a burst of energy and Mbappé fired in a sensational equalizer two minutes later.

The action continued into extra time with both sides having chances with Messi poaching onto a stray ball to poke it over the line. But Mbappé wasn’t done, and the 23-year-old completed his hattrick from the penalty spot in front of a stunned stadium and world.

Kylian Mbappé with the golden boot award as Messi win world cup.
Kylian Mbappé walks past the trophy after scoring a hat-trick in the final.

Despite not being enough to inspire France to back-to-back World Cup titles, Mbappé’s third goal secured him the Golden Boot – given to the tournament’s top scorer, after he netted eight goals in Qatar FIFA 2022 World Cup – and he becomes only the second player, after Geoff Hurst in 1966, to score three times in a final.

Furthermore, the drama continued into the penalty shootout with both Messi and Mbappé scoring their attempts before Argentina keeper Martinez stepped up to deny Kingsley Coman with a save and Aurelien Tchouameni hitting it wide.

After the dust settles on a final like no other, Messi – who was player of the tournament – was left holding the golden trophy that he, and Argentina, was always dreaming to win. This is the end the little genius and Argentina so much deserve. Messi has immortalized his name and status as the undisputed greatest of all time, the best footballer to ever kick a ball. What an incredible story.

The ‘Mad Over You’ singer displayed impeccable form throughout the $igns album. It suggests only one thing, development, and immeasurable growth while he was away.

Runtown Signs boasts of features like ‘O Fe Pa Mi’ with Jamopyper and ‘Dangerous Hearts’ with Mr. Hudson. Runtown has not only been lauded for his brilliance, but also for his artistry in executing an exciting project.

The Signs album relegated Seyi Vybez’s ‘Billion Dollar Baby 2.0‘, Wizkid’s ‘More Love, Less Ego‘ as well as Asake’s ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively on the Apple Music album chart.

More Love, Less Ego – Review & Ratings

Wizkid's More Love, Less Ego album cover

Wizkid released More Love, Less Ego album through Starboy, Sony Music International, and RCA Records. That would be his fifth studio album. Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego album was released on Nov. 11th, 2022, enough time has passed since then and a review and ratings are in order.

An album that consists of thirteen tracks with both local and international collaborations. More Love, Less Ego follows Wizkid’s critically acclaimed successful Made In Lagos album.

Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego has achieved some success already since its release, charting in several countries’ music platforms like Apple Music and Spotify among many other DSPs. The album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard World Albums chart, the second time any of his projects will achieve that feat.

Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego album has been wildly praised for its duality and coherent subject matter ‘More Love, Less Ego’. The album has versatile sounds ranging from Party jams, and funky tunes for ladies, as well as slow tempo, sounds to connect deeply with the listeners.

More Love, Less Ego album tracklist
More Love, Less Ego tracklist.

Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego boasts of features from UK-based rapper Skepta, Ayra Starr, Naira Marley, Skillibeng, Shenseea, and Don Toliver.

We dive right into the reviews and ratings of each song in this album. Akeosa is going to be reviewing and rating it from the least-rated to the highest-rated song from the More Love, Less Ego album. It is important to note that the maximum rating a song can receive is ten(10).

Money & Love

Money & Love is the first song on the tracklist but it was released as a single prior to the release of the album. More Love, Less Ego has only two released singles prior to its release. Money & Love was pretty average, one would think it would be more considering it was released as a single, a preamble before the main thing. The song didn’t really meet the hype for More Love, Less Ego which itself is a masterpiece. Money & Love earns itself a 5.0 rating.

Everyday

Everyday is song number 5 in the tracklist. The message is sound and ideal but the beat and delivery were just on par. One would think the song can resonate like ‘Ojuelegba’ because the messages are alike. Everyday couldn’t do that and we can’t rank it among Wizkid’s best songs. Its rating is 5.2 and we are been generous.

Deep

To be honest we don’t think there’s really anything deep about Deep. The title suggested more but the content was not coherent as it didn’t bring true substance to the song. The rating is 5.5 deep.

Slip N Slide (feat. Skillibeng & Shenseea)

Slip N Slide is track number 6 according to the list. It is okay, we like it but Wizkid’s standard he could’ve always done more with this record. It appeared like the bulk junk of the work was done by the featured artists. Lest I forget ladies love it and so 6.0 rating for Slip N Slide.

Plenty Loving

Plenty Loving is a beautiful song, calm and catchy you can not imagine, go listen. It is vintage like classical Wizkid and it earned itself 6.5 ratings.

Pressure

Pressure resides at number 10 on the tracklist. But it has earned a rather high position in this review. Pressure is a fantastic song and it deservedly earned its 7.0 rating.

Bad To Me

Bad To Me is that song that brings the party to life. It is evident with the viral TikTok videos circulating everywhere on social media. It is really a jam. Once it plays your body moves whether you know how to dance or not. This song was the first released single off More Love, Less Ego and it is rightly so. Bad To Me earned 7.5 ratings.

Special (feat. Don Toliver)

Special has lived up to its name. Truly special through its duality and cohesion. Two different artists with a background that varies came together to make a great record. A fine collaboration and worthy of the 7.9 rating. Special.

Wow (feat. Skepta & Naira Marley)

Wow is an emblem of the entire album More Love, Less Ego. It is simply a work of genius. A first-ever look at the way the album was rolled out. Skepta a UK-based artiste has always found a way to outshine Wizkid on a record. We do not know how he does it but the bottom line he always does. Naira Marley’s input can’t be understated on Wow as his hook was refreshing and catchy. Wow has earned itself 8.2 ratings.

Flower Pads

Flower Pads is one of the fans’ favorites and rightly so. It is such a well-produced song. The title is super creative and above a great record. Flower Pads is often jokingly considered the face of Afroknack( a rather funny and unofficial sub-genre of Afrobeats) with some fans disagreeing that there’s a song better feat for that title. Flower Pads would appreciate an 8.5 rating.

Balance

Without being told we know many fans are going to frown at this. Balance ranking above Flower Pads would always be a no for some. No review or rating would change anybody’s mind. But Balance is a gem of a song, and it deserves the positive and remarkable reviews it is getting. Balance has a rather excellent production and thus a 9.0 rating is awarded to it.

2 Sugar (feat. Ayra Starr)

Right now Ayra Starr is one of the best voices in the industry and its collaboration with Big Wiz was always going to be huge in terms of quality and acceptance. I personally believe it is the best song of the year 2022 and many would agree supported by the Apple Music live performance shortly before the album was released. 2 Sugar is a beautiful song and it deserves the 9.5 ratings awarded to it. Bravo Ayra.

Frames (Who’s Gonna Know)

This is peak music, funny how on the tracklist it was the last but many fans and media reviews have ordained it the undisputed number-one song off this album. Wizkid executed the song in the most extraordinary manner, with artistry in every sense. There’s no better rating than a 10. Frames (Who’s Gonna Know) can only be described with the best of adjectives. Pure Wizardry is one of those songs in Wizkid’s outstanding career that put him above the rest of afrobeat artists. Frames are art and should be kept in Louvré.

Asake has sold out many other shows during the year but selling out a Lagos show is a worthy feat. Considering the noise about the ticket price when it was first announced and going on to sell the capacity out shows the love the people have for him.

Asake’s sold-out concert came as no surprise as many would agree he has had a rather outstanding year. Asake has indeed had an overall wonderful year and he is grateful for having his own people reaffirm this by acquiring his tickets.
